SUPPORT GIRL CHILD EDUCATION

MCSG advocates for girls to go back to school.

  • There are many girls in rural communities in Ghana who wish to be in school or earn formal education but struggle to stay in school once they reach puberty.

  • Research by MCSG has shown that men in these communities give these girls money and expect favors in return; as a result, many girls become pregnant and drop out of school.

  • Our Young Girls Club:

  • Teaches girls about women's health.
  • Provides girls with sanitary pads.
  • Helps them advocate for themselves and their education.
  • Offers entrepreneurship programs so they can generate income while in school, helping to break the cycle of poverty.

Inadequate reproductive health education in rural communities.

  • For cultural reasons, most parents in rural communities in Ghana are hesitant to discuss sex education with their teenagers.
  • Many teenage girls have dropped out of school due to poverty, and some struggle to afford sanitary supplies.

Encouraging teenage girls to go back to school.

  • MCSG has initiated the Young Girls Club to:
  • Encourage girls to return to school.
  • Educate teenagers on reproductive health.
  • Provide vocational skills.

Lessening the school dropout rate among girls in rural areas.

  • MCSG aims to encourage teenage girls in deprived communities to stay in school until they complete at least their secondary education.

STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN & GIRLS

  • Creation of rehabilitation centres for domestic violence victims

Most women and girls are victims of domestic violence in various homes in our part of the world. Some are severely broken physically, emotionally, and mentally. Our target is to provide a safe place for these victims to find refuge and begin their healing and rehabilitation.

  • Rise in domestic violence

The home is not safe for victims of domestic violence. Yet, for cultural or religious reasons, most victims feel scared to talk about it, which can lead to devastating consequences.

  • Supporting the fight against violence

With the construction of rehabilitation centres, MCSG will ensure that women and girls who are abused do not remain suppressed at home. They can escape to a safe place where they will receive the help they need.

  • Creating more awareness

We aim to increase awareness and undertake effective campaigns to stop violence against women and girls in deprived communities.
